Selection Procedure/Scheme for Sub Inspector of Police (SI)

The Selection Procedure/Scheme of the Exam will   be as follows:

  • Stage -I Preliminary Written Test:
  • Stage-II Physical Measurement Test
  • Stage-III Physical Efficiency Test
  • Stage -IV Final (mains) Written Test

  • Stage -I Preliminary Written Test:

Candidates shall be required to appear for the Preliminary  Written Test in one paper (three hours duration) as given below.

The syllabus for PWT is

  1. The minimum marks to be secured by the candidates in order to qualify in the Preliminary Written Test in the paper is 40% for OCs, 35% for BCs and 30% for SCs/STs/Ex-Servicemen.
  2. Questions in the Paper will be objective in nature and will be set in English, Telugu and Urdu languages. Candidates have to answer the questions on an OMR answer sheet using Blue / Black Ball Point pen only. For this purpose candidates should bring Blue / Black Ball Point pens along with them.

Stage-II Physical Measurements Test (PMT) for Sub Inspector (SI):

 The candidates qualified in the above preliminary written test have to undergo Physical Measurements Test and should meet the following requirements.

i) For the post nos. 11 to 14 & 16 to 17 (Men) :

a) Height: Must not be less than 167.6 cms.

b) Chest: Must not be less than 86.3 cms round the chest on full

inspiration with a minimum expansion of 5 cms.

        ii) For the post  no. 1 & 2 (Women) :

Height: Must not be less than 152.5 cms .

Provided that in the case of candidates belonging to aboriginal tribes in the agency areas of Mahaboobnagar, Adilabad, Warangal and Khammam districts should meet the following physical standards :

i) For the post  nos. 1 to  6 (Men) :

a) Height: Must not be less than 160 cms.

b) Chest: Must not be less than 80 cms round the chest on full

inspiration with a minimum expansion of 3 cms.

ii) For the post  no. 1 & 2 (Women) :

Height: Must not be less than 150 cms

Stage -III Physical Efficiency Test (PET) for Sub Inspector (SI)  :

   (Physical Efficiency Test will be qualifying in nature )

 The candidates qualified in the above Physical Measurements Test will be required to undergo the following tests and qualify as specified

below:

  1. For Post Code Nos. 1  &  6 (Men) :

Candidates must qualify in any of the  three (3) events (must qualify in 800 meters run out of 3 events), out of the five (5) events of the Physical  Efficiency Test as detailed below: –

The performance of the candidates in each event will be awarded maximum 25 marks  . All the five (5) items put together will carry 125 marks.

  1. For Post  Nos. 1 (Women) :

 Candidates must qualify in any of the two   (2) events (must qualify in 100 meters run out of 2 events), out of the three (3) events of the Physical Efficiency Test as detailed below: –

The performance of the candidates in each event will be awarded maximum marks as   mentioned above . All the three (3) items put together will carry 125 marks.

  • Stage -IV Final (mains) Written Test
  • Final Written Examination for Sub Inspector (SI ):

Candidates who qualify in the Physical Efficiency Test will be required to appear for a Final Written Examination in four papers (each of three hours duration) as given below.

NOTE: 1) The minimum marks to be secured by the candidates in order to qualify in the final written examination in each paper is 40% for OCs, 35% for BCs and 30% for SCs/STs/Ex-Servicemen.

2) Questions in Papers III and IV will be objective in nature and will be set in English, Telugu and Urdu languages. Candidates have to answer the questions on an OMR answer sheet using Blue / Black Ball Point pen only. For this purpose candidates should bring Blue / Black Ball Point pens along with them.

3) Papers I and II are qualifying in nature for the post nos. 2 to 6 only and the marks secured in these papers i.e., III & IV will not be taken into account for final selection. The cases of the candidates who do not secure the minimum qualifying marks in these papers will not be considered further in the selection process irrespective of their performance in papers III & IV.

4) Papers III and IV referred above will include questions that are subjective and  objective in nature. They have to answer the questions using blue / black pen.

5) In Paper I, the candidates can choose to have one of the languages i.e., either Telugu or Urdu and should indicate their choice as and when asked for. Option once exercised will be final and a candidate will not be allowed to change it subsequently.

6) The appearance in all the Tests and Written Examination, as per rules is compulsory. Absence in any of the above Tests / Examination, will automatically render his/her candidature as disqualified.

7) Mere securing minimum qualifying marks does not vest any right in acandidate for being considered for selection.
